START WITH EVERYDAY USE

A connected home
that makes sense to you.

A useful smart home starts with the way you live, rather than a list of gadgets. You may want a clearer view of the entrance, more convenient lighting, selected alerts or a better way to manage access. Those priorities shape the products and installation plan.

Razco provides smart home and CCTV installation across Toronto, Richmond Hill and the GTA. We review the existing property, devices, network and renovation plans before defining the work. The aim is a clear scope, coordinated installation and a handover that explains the functions you will actually use.

WHAT WE CAN HELP WITH

Control what matters.

Start with one defined upgrade or coordinate several devices within a wider home renovation.

01

Security cameras & CCTV

Plan views of entrances, a driveway, garage or other agreed areas with cameras selected for the scene. Camera placement, lighting, mounting, cable access and recording need to work together. CCTV installation can include wired network cameras, suitable wireless options and a recording system, depending on the selected products and the home.

02

Video doorbells

See the entrance and use the functions supported by the selected doorbell. We review the mounting location, existing chime and power arrangements, wireless coverage and app requirements. Product compatibility matters before replacement. The scope identifies any additional power, chime or finishing work needed for the proposed installation.

03

Smart locks & entry controls

Choose a lock around the existing door, hardware and the access you want to manage. Review door alignment, fit, handing, connectivity and the supported user or guest functions. A smart lock should complement a correctly operating door. Door repairs or hardware changes are discussed separately where required.

04

Lighting & everyday controls

Bring selected lights, switches and routines into a clearer control plan. Discuss room use, manual operation, compatible dimming and the platform you prefer. Smart lighting requirements vary by product and existing wiring. Applicable electrical work is coordinated within the agreed scope rather than treated as a simple device swap in every home.

05

Thermostats & home sensors

Review compatible thermostat controls, leak sensors, contact sensors or other selected devices around the functions you need. Existing equipment, wiring, hubs and app support influence the choice. We define the desired notifications and routines before installation, then review their operation and maintenance needs with you.

06

Network & renovation planning

Connected devices depend on the network and their physical installation. Plan camera cable routes, network equipment, wireless coverage and access before finishes are closed. We review the relationship between devices and the existing router or network, identify additional requirements and coordinate patching or painting where included in the quote.

CCTV INSTALLATION WITH A CLEAR PURPOSE

Plan the view.
Not just the camera.

Camera resolution is only one part of a useful system. Position, viewing angle, lighting, mounting height, network access and recording settings all affect the result. We start by discussing the areas you want to observe and what you need to recognize in those views.

For CCTV installation at entrances, a garage or a driveway, we review the scene and practical cable routes together. Strong backlighting, obstructions and night conditions may influence the camera choice and position. A product feature list cannot replace reviewing the actual location.

Define the areas to cover, the recording you need and who should have access before equipment is ordered.
01 / COVERAGE

Choose intentional camera views

Agree on the relevant entrances and areas of your property. Discuss the field of view, unnecessary capture of neighbouring spaces and any supported privacy masking. We review the selected system’s viewing and recording functions with the installation plan so the camera has a defined purpose.

02 / RECORDING

Match storage to your priorities

Local recorder, storage at the camera and cloud services offer different arrangements. Camera count, video settings and recording schedule affect capacity and retention. We identify the proposed recording method, access, recurring fees and product dependencies. Avoid assuming that all functions are local or subscription-free simply because a recorder is included.

03 / EVERYDAY OPERATION

Make playback and alerts usable

Discuss who needs live viewing, how recordings will be retrieved and which supported alerts are useful. We review the agreed functions during handover. Software updates, connection changes and product subscriptions can affect operation over time, so the support responsibilities and product documentation should remain clear.

COMPATIBILITY BEFORE COMMITMENT

One plan.
The right connections.

Smart home installation depends on exact models, supported features and the platform you want to use. Existing Wi-Fi, hubs, bridges and other equipment are reviewed before confirming the device list. Not every product works with every app, and not every feature carries across platforms.

Matter can help supported smart home products work across compatible systems. Its setup and connection requirements still depend on the selected devices and home equipment. We review the relevant product documentation rather than promising universal compatibility.

If you already use Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa or another platform, tell us which controls and routines you want to keep. Share the model details of existing devices and any planned additions. This helps define a system that fits the home instead of adding disconnected products.

A clear 6-step installation process.

Smart home and CCTV installation works best when the decisions are made before mounting and cabling begin.

  1. 01

    Define the result

Tell us which areas you want to see or control, your preferred platform and the routines that matter. Share existing device models and the problems you want to solve.

  2. 02

    Review the property

Look at proposed locations, mounting surfaces, lighting, cable access, power and network coverage. Discuss recording preferences, viewing boundaries and the rooms or entrances affected by the work.

  3. 03

    Confirm products & scope

Agree on the equipment, compatibility, installation approach and responsibilities for supply, subscriptions, cabling, electrical work and finishing. Review the proposed schedule and handover expectations together.

  4. 04

    Install & coordinate

Mount the selected devices, complete the agreed connections and coordinate the work with any electrical or renovation tasks. Changes to cable routes or newly discovered requirements are discussed before proceeding.

  5. 05

    Set up & test

Configure the agreed functions with you and check camera views, recording, device operation and supported notifications. Review how the selected system behaves and which services it relies on.

  6. 06

    Hand over with clarity

Walk through everyday controls, owner access, recording retrieval and relevant care or update information. Keep the product details, account ownership and applicable warranty or support terms clear.

CLEAR EQUIPMENT. CLEAR SCOPE.

What shapes your
smart home & CCTV quote?

The number of devices, camera locations, recording system, cabling, power requirements, access and finishing determine the work involved. CCTV installation in a finished home can involve different cable routes and preparation from work planned while renovation walls are open.

Your quote should identify equipment supply, installation, configuration, testing and handover. Confirm the responsibilities for network changes, electrical work, mounting, patching and painting. Subscriptions and optional ongoing support should be distinguished from the installation cost.

If comparing estimates, compare the exact products and agreed functions, not only the device count. Recording capacity, product compatibility and finishing can differ between proposals. We review the actual property and priorities before defining your scope.

Discuss Your Installation

Send a useful starting point

  • Your location and whether the home is finished or under renovation.
  • The entrances, rooms or outdoor areas you want to cover.
  • The device types and approximate quantities you are considering.
  • Existing product models, platform and network equipment details.
  • Your recording, remote viewing and notification preferences.
  • Photographs showing proposed mounting locations and access.

Buying equipment first? Arrange a compatibility and installation review where possible before placing the order.

COORDINATE WITH THE RENOVATION

Plan the routes before the finish.

Smart home and CCTV installation can be coordinated with electrical, drywall, carpentry and painting work. Plan where equipment will sit, how cables can be routed and which surfaces need to be opened or repaired. Defining those details early helps connect the device plan to the finished room.

INFORMED PRODUCT CHOICES

Understand the recording plan.

Storage is part of the CCTV installation scope, rather than a single capacity number. Ask about the recording schedule, expected retention, supported access and the services the system depends on. Manufacturer guidance can help explain the available approaches before a particular product is selected.

PRACTICAL ANSWERS

Smart home & CCTV installation FAQs.

What does smart home and CCTV installation include?

The scope is tailored to the home and selected devices. It can include camera placement, recording equipment, doorbells, smart locks, lighting controls, compatible sensors, network connections and setup. Product supply, cable routing, power requirements, wall repairs and handover should be identified in the quote. Tell us what you already own and which functions you want before equipment is ordered.

Should I choose wired or Wi-Fi security cameras?

The right approach depends on camera locations, cable access, available power, network coverage and the selected equipment. Wired network cameras can be useful where a planned cable route is practical. Wi-Fi cameras still need suitable power or battery arrangements and dependable wireless coverage. We review the actual locations and installation constraints rather than assuming one approach fits every property.

Can footage be stored locally instead of in the cloud?

Some camera systems support a local network video recorder or storage at the camera. Others use cloud storage or a combination. Features, subscriptions, remote viewing and retention depend on the product and settings. We discuss where recordings are stored, how they are accessed and any recurring costs before you approve the system. Local recording does not automatically mean every connected service stays local.

How many days of camera footage will I have?

Retention depends on storage capacity, camera count, resolution, frame rate, recording schedule and video settings. Continuous recording and event-only recording use capacity differently. We review your priorities and the proposed equipment when defining the recording plan. A fixed number of days should be confirmed against the actual system rather than promised from storage capacity alone.

Will everything work with Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa?

Compatibility is checked for the exact device, model and functions you want. A product may support some controls in a shared platform while keeping other features in its own app. Hubs, bridges, subscriptions or a Thread border router may be needed. Matter support can help with supported products, but it is not a blanket guarantee that every device or feature will work together.

Can you install equipment I have already purchased?

Share the make, model, quantity and product documentation, along with photos of the proposed locations. We review compatibility, power, networking, mounting and the functions you expect. Confirming the plan before buying is preferable where possible. Existing equipment may require additional components or may not suit the opening, wiring or intended location.

Can cameras work at night and send detection alerts?

Night visibility and alerts depend on the camera, lighting, view, settings and network. Person, vehicle or package detection is product-specific. The camera location and field of view should be reviewed alongside the feature list. We test the agreed viewing and alert functions during handover, and explain how the selected system’s settings affect everyday use.

Will smart devices keep working if the internet goes down?

Some local controls or recording functions may continue, while cloud features, remote access and certain automations may stop. Behaviour varies by device, hub, power and system design. We discuss which functions matter most to you and review the selected products’ offline behaviour. A connected system should not be described as fully independent of the internet without checking its actual configuration.

Can installation be coordinated with a renovation?

Yes. Renovation work can provide an opportunity to plan cable routes, camera positions, device power and the location of network equipment before walls and ceilings are finished. We coordinate the agreed electrical, cabling and finishing scope with the room layout. Any repairs or painting needed after installation should be identified in the project responsibilities.

How are accounts, access and ongoing support handled?

Owner accounts should be created and controlled by you. At handover, we review the agreed device functions, authorized users, notifications, recording access and relevant product documentation. Discuss the scope of future assistance, software updates and product or workmanship coverage in advance. Any ongoing installer access should be separately discussed and agreed rather than assumed.

LOCAL INSTALLATION PLANNING

Toronto & the GTA.

Discuss smart home and CCTV installation for your property in Toronto, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Markham, Thornhill, Aurora, Newmarket or nearby GTA communities. Share the project location and proposed devices when you request a consultation so the scope and access can be reviewed.

For condos, mention management requirements, common-area restrictions, access and working hours. For occupied homes, tell us which rooms or entrances need to remain available. Planned renovation work and existing devices should be included in the initial discussion.
